Now, I'm sure that there are many shows that sound stupid, though are actually quite enjoyable. But Stargate sounds like the stupidest ---smurfing--- show on the planet.
Except, this is *why* it is so popular. Unlike ST, BSG, Farscape, S:A&B and Firefly, the people who make Stargate
know it is a silly idea, and are just trying to
have fun with it. Most episodes tend to be very light on moralising, the main characters actively
joke about the storm-trooper effect, and they get to say lines like "is he supposed to be naked?"

Compared to other shows that end up getting an over-inflated sense of purpose, and thus inevitably end up losing their "groove" (eg. Legend of the Rangers), SG-1 and SGA have lasted this long because even though they try to avoid it, it doesn't tend to worry them if a character "gets their appendix removed in two different episodes" so to speak.

This is blow to damn good
entertainment, hope it gets picked up by someone else.
