Applying Vinyl Sideart
« on: August 19, 2006, 03:53:04 pm »
I am still waiting for my sideart to arrive from classicarcadegrafix and I just noticed under the installation instructions that latex paint is NOT recommedned. Well i painted my cab with latex paint. Am I screwed? Will I still be able to apply the sideart?

I don't know if you'll be screwed applying it but you might be screwed if classicarcadegrafix hasn't improved their horrible quality.

a good vinyl will remove latex paint in sheets. so if you ever plan on removing/ changing your graphic...
latex is bad!

I was just ready to apply my side art also when I read this post.  I am also using a latex paint on my cabinet.  Has anyone had success with this, or are there only some rare cases where there can be a problem?

Yes... You very well could be.

We used vinyl stickers all over our cab, and the only place we had a problem was on the front doors where we had applied paint. The vinyl began to delaminate with in the first 6 months and had to be reapplied. I think your best bet would be to sand off the paint before applying the vinyl to avoid the same problem.
