hi,

how do i create a mame ini file. i understand that i need to open ms- dos and type -cc but every time i do i get invalid blah blah blah.

can any body tell me exactly how to do it. i have mame stored in c:\mame

exactly what error are you getting? "invalid blah blah" doesnt help much in diagnoising the problem  ;)

type:
cd \mame
mame -cc

If you have an optimized mame, the exe has a different name.  So type: dir mame*.exe and the name will be listed.  It could be mamepp.exe, and in list case, type: mamepp -cc

ahh i wasnt adding the cd thingy, is that like a  dos thing?

Umm yeah.  A bit of advice and don't get mad about this.  LEARN DOS COMMANDS!  If you don't know simple dos commands like change directory then you will be lost in the emulator world.   Invest some time in learning the basics and you'll be gald you did.

Howard is right, here is a site that will show you some basic commands for DOS, enough to get you in trouble.   ;)

You first need to change into your mame directory, before running any mame commands.
