  • Only working on my cab since 0.69...
I'd like to thank all those who raved about component hookups to a TV vs. just using the S-video out.  I couldn't change my plans now knowing something so much better could be done.  Although I think I've spent a week trying to get this to work.  Here's the current setup:

MSI Radeon 9250  VGA/DVI/S-video out
ATI-clone DVI to component adapter
Insignia 24" standard def TV (Best Buy brand)
Latest versions of Catalyst drivers and Powerstrip
WinXP sp2
VNC

All I've been able to get is a very fuzzy picture that won't sync up.  By messing with some of the settings I've been able to get the picture to stop vertical roll, there are still jagged areas along with a horrible and fuzzy pic.  Only the TV is hooked up to the PC as I'm running VNC from a networked laptop.

Here's what I've done so far in Powerstrip:

1) Disabled Tiling in Powerstrip (Radeon issue)
2) In PS tried custom resolution settings of ARCADE and NTSC.  Interlaced is checked.
3) As per Entech/Powerstrip tech support (Rik Wang's reputation for answering all questions is warranted) I tried changing settings for PIXEL CLOCK and VERTICAL TOTAL but I'm just mashing up and down arrows trying to find the right combo.  Unsuccessful so far.
4) Tried swapping out component cables just in case.

People have gotten Insignias to work with the dongle.  People have gotten 9250s to work.  I just need to find the right settings or get some better insight.

Wow man, I wish I could help. I'm about 3 weeks from being in almost the same boat as you so I'm waiting anxiously for replies as well.

Leave powerstrip alone for now.

You should be able to get a good componet out picture via the dongle and recent ATI catalyst drivers - have you got this far? Don't mess with powerstrip until you have.

Note, if you are using particular screen settings via powerstrip you may find that your TV supports quite a limited range on its component input.
