  • "The Arcade" - Build #4
upgrading to mamewah 1.62
« on: August 13, 2006, 04:50:10 pm »
Hi all

I was wondering if there is a how to or faq i can follow to upgrade from 1.61 to 1.62.  I am quite familiar with the old mawah but the new one puzzles me a bit.  Im just having some mind bending trouble.
Any links?

Thanks
Ryan

It sets up differently. You will have to redo your ini files because everything is now in folders. However, the nice thing about this (very nice) is that you can now use game specific ini files. With 1.61 and earlier, games were only sorted by system and every game had to have the same setup within that system. With 1.62 each game can have different settings within the same system, which makes custom key mapping and such very nice. I dont use this feature much within mame, but for consoles and PC games this comes in extremely handy, especially when using an ipac and it's programmability.

It's pretty easy to setup though. Just make a folder for each system within the config folder and then start mamewah. This will setup ini files for you to edit. At that point it's pretty similiar to 1.61 with slightly different verbage. An experienced person should be able to figure it out.

Hi,

I agree with Brophog's comments. The game-specific abilities of MAMEWAH 1.62 are very nice, and it's not very difficult to configure.

I'm currently experiencing some issues getting Daphe configured in MAMEWAH 1.62b10 (as are others - see the MAMEWORLD board for details http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/index.php) but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before these small issues are ironed out. All-in-all a significant improvement and definitely worth the upgrade.

Hi,

Just thought I'd post a quick message to say I found a resolution to my issue with DAPHNE.
I posted the solution in this thread:

Cheers,
Breaker.
