My kids and I are watching VH1-Classics, and VanHalen is on playing "Jump." My kids look at the long hair and spandex, and my daughter at first thinks it's a girl singing. Then they realize it's Diamond Dave, and my 7 year old son says: "That's how they used to dress in the old days."

Then he asks me to play ChumbaWumba - TubThumping.

Now my daughter says "I guess they didn't care what they looked like back then" and says their moves are really embrarrasing.

I'm getting old.

No, he was watching VH-1 Classics - music videos from a time when people actually gave a crap about music videos.

VH-1 is very 'pop culture oriented' now and no longer the 'unhip video station' it once was known as. They've become the new MTV: dumping their format to peddle cheap, tabloid entertainment (MTV, in the meantime, went straight for the lowest common denominator's jugular). Although, asking Michael Ian Black what his opinions of 1980's events and products are is always good for mindless fun.

You should try listening to some of the newer music-it's suprisingly better than I expected to find when I grew up. Granted, there are the same crap pop star ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- we deal with in every generation-Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton's music makes me want to stomp puppies (luckily, my kids agree), but there's quite a bit out there that isn't bad.

Not many people actually get their teeth caped these days, most of them just get grills (which, in my mind, must be one of the most uncomfortable things ever). If you see someone with caps, they're probably old school.

As for what they'll look like in 25 years, just check out Flavor Flave, it's been close to 20 years since his heyday.

A LOT of celebrities get their teeth capped... but not with gold or anything, just stupid looking fake white teeth. Tom Brady just had it done and now he looks like Nancy Kerrigan (who also has them). I've talked to them both in person a few times and they both just look weird.

Valid point, though I was definately refering to the platinum caps (and gold, by extension, I guess).
