Nintendo Entertainment Cabinet (or center...havent decided) After looking at these and almost every one in examples page. For some reason Nannu's Nintendo Cabinet peaked my intrest...

And so i am building one for my recently bought NES
(see the little play on words  NES...NEC  )

Much like Nannu's i will use two NES advantage controllers. HOWEVER i will be integrating them into the cabinet so you cant really tell there are there.
Unlike Nannu's i will have light gun holders on the sides and i will have the console space and thegames location be hidden.

I will not include the stools or the places for the NES MAX controllers.
Not right away due to price restrictions-but later, it will have side art,marquee,control panel art and bezel art.

I have measured everything out and it will be 6 foot 6 inches. It wont be so much as a conventional arcade machine as everything is spaced for my height and what is comfortable(HAHAHAHA:laugh2:.)

Does anyone know any good wood that is smooth and is easy to work with. Im learning towards MDF or Particle Board.

MDF is "OK" to work with if you don't mind the weight or the unfathomable amount of dust created when working with it. Particle board is a bit weak I think. Frankly I am a plywood man but you'll find about as many opinions about it as you can count. I also had some luck using solid 3/4" material that has been edge glued together to form wide widths. You can find it at Menards if there is one in your neighborhood.

My hang-up has always been the software side of things. How are you planing on doing your set-up? Are you just using the NES or are you doing other systems as well?

actually i didnt put this in just because its a maybe but my friend got TWO atari 2600's(for free...lucky!!!) and he needs a wire for both of them but once he tests them both and if they both work he will give me one of them.
IF that happens before the designing of the control panel then two atari joysticks will be added in along with two paddel controlers.
