15khz LCD Monitor
« on: August 02, 2006, 11:57:22 am »
I am going to be replacing a 19' arcade monitor(JAMMA System) due to bad burnin.  I would like like to try a LCD solution like this one I found on ebay eBay Link.

What makes this LCD special for arcade besides the 15khz sync rate?  Can you use any LCD that goes from 15khz - up?

THanks,

Jimmy

I know its a lot, but i am really interested in moving away from the old arcade monitors.  The cost doesn't bother me as long as it works....  Hopefully I'm not the first one to try this...  I plan on making a decision this week...

$510 is a lot of cabbage to shell out for a 19".  You'll get better results from a regular tube monitor.

Don't worry I like to tell all!  One of the advantages of using the LCD is its smaller size(depth) and secondly It makes the wiring simpler. And to top it off, all the adjustments are done on screen vs adjusting pots...   I also like the idea of elimating the extra 100 lbs from the weight of the cabbinet... And lets not forget eliminating the 33,000 watts of danger!  Plus its multi-sync abilties...

well, you've  a very good  point about the weight  ;D

for the wiring it's the same, you need power for the monitor, and the r/g/b gnd sync
the vison pro or beston or gardener dont need an isolation transformer and they're multi sync...
the vision pro came with the pots in the back of the monitor as usual, and also a remote mini board that i install behind the coin door , easy to reach...
for the danger, if you are carefull wont be any problem...

in case you get that screen, let us know about it, i will love to see how it is  :D

I agree about being carefull.  But i still fret doing the discharge... After numerous monitors I still don't like doing it!  Even though its never sparked or popped.  When I am refurbishing cabinets its the only thong I don't like to mess with!
