My wife and I have separate checking accounts.  She pays the bills (loves MS Money) and when she needs money she asks if I can put such and such amount in her account.  I like it.  I couldn't handle having to ask for an allowance.  I'm not going to go out and buy a $500 toy without letting her know about it ahead of time, but I'm also not going to ask permission to spend $50 on a game or $100 on clothes here and there.  I like to have separate accounts so I can buy my wife presents and keep them secret.  And to buy hookers.

I started to add this to my post yesterday, but decided against it; now I wish I would have....would have cleared up a lot.

Right now the wife and I do have seperate accounts.  However, that is about to change as she has quit work to stay at home with our daughter and home school the little one.  We thought about keeping both accounts open, but as per shmokes point,  I didn't want her to have to ask for an "allowance" to keep money in her account.  Add to that the bank takes hefty fees on both accounts, and thus we decided to close her account and just pool our money for now.  Now, it may be that Daddy will start his OWN account later for fun stuff, but for now this joint account works for me.

So now y'all know why we're sharing info to a point.  At the same time, as I am the one working, I do feel that if I want to spend $300 (or whatever) on this thing at launch or Christmas, it should be my decision....and in all fairness to my wife, she would agree with me.  She might not like my decision, but she would support it.   :D

Paypal accounts make a great seperate account if you can qualify for their debit card (which I've heard is getting difficult these days for some reason-I got mine the first week they offered them back in 2000 or so, so I wouldn't know for sure). It's not an issue for me now that I'm divorced, but it was a nice little place to keep extra money for stuff I wanted to blow cash on without worrying about it. They even pay interest, which is more than alot of banks do these days.
$6.75 the hard way-one quarter at a time.

My wife and I use the same checking account.  When she wants something she asks me if we can afford it because I handle ALL of the bills and bring in 99% of the money.  We tried her handling the bills but there were too many missed.  Took her a long time to see the difference between asking "do we have the money this month" and "may I spend this money" no matter how often I explained the difference.  I rarely say no unless the money really isn't there.  Of course, my wife would make Scrooge McDuck look cheap, so it works.

Hey . . . I thought Scrooge McDuck is cheap.  He likes to have money, not spend it.   ;D

Also, don't worry RTSDaddy.  Nintendo has already said that it would be less than $250.  My guess is $199 cos $250 is a little too close for comfort to the core Xbox 360 price of $299.  But I think Nintendo is really just waiting to see what kind of buzz exists before committing to a pricepoint.  At any rate, it definitely won't be $300.

Ahh...seen the pics from that vid before.

I'm happy to see they'd put "supers" in the game (from the looks of it.)  I'd like to see how close they are to my versions for each of the characters from melee.  Heck, I still have the file if anyone wants to read it.  It's pretty well thought out, as I played in my share of regional tournaments.

I think it's sweet that they are putting in solid snake from the metal gear series. Smash bros. is so unrelated, I really wonder how that happened....

Erm, yeah, that was precisely my point.  She rarely spends anything on stupid girly crap and is usually hesitant to even spend it on necessities without comparison shopping first.  So I don't have to worry about it, if she asks about availability of cash for something, it is because we need it and we're getting it for what it is worth.

IGN posted some insider info on their site and then pulled it, and then reposted it with some of the info removed (lending some credence to the rumor because it looks like the combination of leaked info was enough to compromise the source).

Anyway, the claim is a Nov. 2 or Nov. 12 release date at $229.  They also talk about an underclocked Wii processor being made by IBM for a handheld that would play Gamecube games (this is part of the info that was pulled).

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/rumors/ign-wii-rumors-pulled-because-insider-feared-prosecution-193021.php

All of this sounds like really plausible stuff and I think I'm going to go ahead and believe it for now.  What I'd really like to know at this point is whether it will come with more than one controller.  I doubt it, but I'm really hoping.

It won't, that has been an upfront cost reduction strategy for a long time now.

But, anyway, if it's a year away, just chill and wait.  The details will come when they come.

???  A year away?

November is less than three months away.  I may be misreading your post, but the Wii is coming this holiday season, not next.

I will be camping out for a Wii come launch time and will be buying a whole slew of games for it. There are 27 launch titles planned so far for launch. Metroid Prime, Zelda, Metal Slug, Red Steel, Wii Sports, Rayman, Call of Duty 3 (can't wait to drive a tank) etc...

I can't wait for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. Hopefully they will come out just after the new year.

The Tokyo Game Show is Sept 22. Nintendo will be announcing the official launch date and release titles then. Maybe there will be some 3rd party sword and gun peripherials ready too.

I already have the cash saved for the system, 4 controllers, and a couple of games.

I don't believe there will actually be 27 titles at launch, even if there are, in fact, 27 titles ready.  Nintendo will want to launch with maybe 10 or 15 solid games and trickle the others over the next couple months so they don't hit any dry periods with no good game releases that could potentially kill buzz.

That's hilarous, by the way, Chad.  At one point, in fact, this thing was over 2000 years away from launch.   ;D

Well, you simply won't believe it - we were talking about Christmas coming up, and my wife and I were discussing "big" gifts.  To get right to the point, I suggested we get a Wii, and she agreed that this should be one of our giant gifts to each other if it was going to be that much fun! We've even decided to pre-order!
