MameWAH not responding
« on: August 01, 2006, 04:16:27 pm »
I have a new cabinet set up with MameWAH 1.61 and MAME v.87.
Works fine for the most part, but occasionally when launching, MameWAH will change to a smaller resolution (only fills the top left portion of the screen) and hang up.
If I ctl-alt-dlt, MameWAH is listed as "not responding".
If I "end program" on MAME, things go back to normal.  MameWAH goes back to fullscreen and I can use it as normal.

In the MameWAH .ini files, I am using the {safelaunch}, and {nodosbox} flags.

Any idea what is causing MameWAH to hang like this?

Thanks

Could this problem be related to trying to launch v1.06 roms with v0.87 MAME?

If so... is there an easy way to delete any roms that came from a later set than v0.87?
Or perhaps a list of the rom filenames from that version?

Thanks

Is the issue happening when you start mamewah or mame?  If it happens when you start mamewah, then it has nothing to do with mame.  If it happens when mame starts, it would be an auto setting in your mame.ini.  It shouldn't have any relation to the rom set/version of mame.

Also, what's with all the incompatibility there? Make things easy on yourself and run everything in the same resolution where possible. No need to complicate things. Use clrmamepro as well to get your romset compatible. No mame user should be without clrmamepro.

Try this.....launch without the nodosbox and nosafelaunch flags. If there is an incompatiblity issue or a rom issue, you won't know it with those flags on. Mame will launch a command window and show you what it is doing prior to launching the game. From the sounds of it, if you can get mamewah stable by shutting down mame, it's not a mamewah problem.

That's correct... it happens when MAME launches from MameWAH.  What auto setting in mame.ini are you referring to?

Thanks,
I will check the resolutions settings, change the flags, and try clrmamepro
