If you have $1000 (or 2 tron machines to trade), you can buy these 17 old arcade games and misc parts.

Can they be fixed up and sold for a profit?  Or are they just a bunch of junk that would be cool to collect?

I am not experienced in arcade values. But I'm sure if you're experienced in the fixing then there will be others with the money willing to invest in it.

Yeah...... another would be good deal on ebay that is poorly represented.
I'm not saying for a grand it's not a good deal.
But the way it was listed, you might as well be buying a car without knowing what it was or ever seeing it.

I'm still looking for the other three Dig Dug's. (?)

It might be a good deal but you would want to check them out, also if you notice its a reserve auction so the seller wants more $$$$$$$

Notice he never mentions anything about the working. Just because a machine is complete, does not mean it is in working condition...

Also, he has no "as-is" clause. Looks like this could definitely be a screw job once you show up on site with your U-haul.

Who would expect a truckload of working cabs for $1000?  I'd be perfectly happy with complete but nonworking cabs.  In fact I'd rather have 17 nonworking nice shape cabs than 17 working beaten up cabs.

I totally agree with you on that one.
Fixing them is the easy part as long as they are complete and in good shape.

I asked the guy specifically about the see through Time Pilot pic and he said he must have put up the wrong one because he had two different ones there. (Ok?)
So I kindly mentioned that he may want to attempt to make his pictures match the contents of his game list a little bit better.  ;D

Nearly every single eBay auction has an "as-is" clause, so don't automatically assume the guy is a con artist from that.

Its very seldom you see a "guaranteed not DOA" auction.

Ah, grasshopper, READ the post before you respond ... the note was that he DOES NOT have an AS-IS clause (as most every arcade-related auction does) ... while I personally wouldn't read too much into that, it is very different from what you apparently read. The fact that he doesn't describe the condition of the machines in detail is disturbing

Also strange is the trade for two TRON uprights ... to my mind, his reserve is already higher than the value of two working TRON uprights.

Further, I notice that I can't see the pictures that others are referring to as the seller has now removed them without posting replacements.

Could be a fine deal, but the fact that the 99+% rating includes absolutely no sales and the seller comes up with a big lot which wasn't posted to RGVAC warrants some caution.

Or it could just be that this guy doesn't know jack about the batch of arcade cabinets he bought ...

Cheers.

My guess is the guy owns a U-Stor-It type place and someone defaulted on their lease. The Tron thing is probably because a) he knows a guy who wants to buy two Tron cabs or b) him and a buddy both loved the game and started reminising when he opened the storage locker and thought it would be cool to get a couple of them.

That's assuming it's not a total con job, of course :)

I noticed a Centipede is clearly shown in the pictures, yet isn't listed in the list of games....

at any rate I did ask if they worked and if he would be willing to let me see the cabinets before I made my bid......

None of the sellers purchases on ebay have anything to do with arcade machines.  It does not seem like he would be the original owner of these things.

I had noticed that also.... but they obviously know "something" about the machines, because there are several listed in a different style cab. i.e. Frogger, Zaxxon, Missile Command. And all of those are well known and common "conversion" games. Both the cabinets they are in and the games that are currently in them.

I noticed a Centipede is clearly shown in the pictures, yet isn't listed in the list of games....

Wouldn't you pick and choose what to possibly keep for yourself?
(I know I would)
There are a few games in the pics NOT listed as for sale.
Like the Star Castle. (color vector game)
Which can't be seen now since they removed that particular pic shortly after I mentioned the Time Pilot issue to them. I was hoping they'd also take some more pics and put those up.

On the "AS-IS" debate.....
In the auction it was never stated that ANY of these machines actually work.
Quote from: the Ebay auction
These games are in various degrees of completion
Therefore an as-is clause really isn't even neccissary, because even if they don't work.... they are not being mis-represented.
Most storage units like that don't even have power to them.
So it's more than likely that they don't even know themselves if any of them work.
Kinda have to use your own judgment on that one.
And of course would be a good idea to just go check them out in person if you were seriously interested.

I'd take a stab at that this Ebay auction is simply an arcade hobbiest who got a good deal at a storage unit auction out of a delinquent unit sale or something. Maybe just fairly new to the hobby... who knows. Maybe I'll ask them.  :)
(I do vaguely remember that ebay ID from somewhere though. hmmmm.....have to keep that one in mind and see if I can recall)

You're right... it has a color overlay. My bad.

But there again, I would'nt pass any vector up if the price was right.  ;D
