wireless ps2 joystick?
« on: July 26, 2006, 02:21:25 pm »
I wanted to make a wireless arcade stick for my ps2 using the Logitech Cordless Action: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2277,CONTENTID=8157

I thought it would be a simple soldering job but it turned out to be a nightmare. did anyone here attempt to do the same? any advice? or schematic of the board?

in the end i gave up and used my broken street fighter controller and i did that in 5 mins. it'd be awesome if the stick was wireless though...

thanks.

Do you have a pic of the PCB? That may help.

here you go:

S9 is the Mode button, to connect to the receiver. S8 & S7 are Select & Start. S10 is to turn on/off the motors.

It looks like any other PCB where you would need to scratch off the button contacts. If you are trying to preserve the PCB, then of course I wouldn't do it. I'm not sure where the wireless censor is. Is it that black strip under the top of the PCB? Or did you remove it? Sorry for the questions, but I have never used a wireless PCB before.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like all you would need to do is add two more buttons to your arcade stick for the S9 and S10 buttons.

Basically once you determine the Ground contacts, all you need to do is scratch off some of the button contact on the PCB to expose the silver or copper contacts. Then solder away.

Sounds like you have experience with this stuff, so I am sure I will make sense.

Depending on what gauge wire he has, it looks like there are holes and pads already connected to the button pads via a small trace.  I'm too lazy to highlight what I mean now, but I can do it tomorrow evening if needed.
