Considering PC to Arcade Monitor - How?

I have a Xevious that is currently not working. If I don't have the skeelz to get it up and running I will probably drop a computer in and run Mame through the existing monitor (leaving all harnesses and boards in place for future repair/refurbish). I have read many different things on connecting a pc to an arcade monitor but I have some questions.
1) Do I absolutely need the ArcadeVGA card?
2) Is it as easy as splicing a VGA cable to the monitor harness?
3) If I have the ArcadeVGA card and splice a VGA cable to the monitor harness, am I definitely in business?
4) Do I have to wire an "O" and "K" button on my control panel? Just kidding.

If you get the arcadeVGA and a video amp (which you will most likely need), the video amp has screw terminals on the PCB so you could hook up the RGB cord you should already have going from the gameboard onto the monitor chassis.

And of course you need OK buttons you fool.

No.  I am going through this issue currently.  IMHO make your own vga cable with a DB15 male from RadioShack.  The wire on all the vga monitor cables I clipped are so small it is hard to work with even after you tin it up.  I am using shielded 8 conductor stranded 22.  So you have a DB15 male on one end and what on the other ?   Maybe a 10 pin connector on the monitor pcb RGB G V/H.  Yeah I have a post above asking about this.  I am making a db15 male to JAMMA finger board cable.   I don't want to destroy the Neo Geo / Jamma setup that is in this monster of a cab.  So vga to jamma finger board cable  will allow me to use the jamma harness  which is connected to the monitor via this in line 10 pin connector.
Also the JPAC will boost your RGB input signal from 1v to 5v.  My WG 7197 will take 1v.  I am not using the ArcadeVGA, but Advmame and Advmenu in DOS.  I am sure the JPAC and ArcadeVGA are the ticket but I am going the hard way first.  Good Luck.
