Yup, I can't wait for Half-life 2: Episode 2 to come out.  It's not only going to be another great single player game, but its coming packed with the multiplayer games Portal (as seen in the movie above) and Team Fortress 2 (which used to be one of the highest anticipated games until Valve stopped releasing info on it a number of years ago, its along the lines of Duke Nukem Forever finally coming out)

Its going to be a whole lot of gaming goodness packed together.

I just noticed that a Team Fortress 2 was just released today, heres a bunch of different places to get it from:

http://www.3dgamers.com/news/more/1096485338/
http://files.filefront.com/Team+Fortress+2+Teaser+Trailer/;5276525;;/fileinfo.html
http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=35607

the 3DGamers site also still has gameplay footage and screenshots of the game from 1998 and 1999 if you want to see how the game has progressed since then.

edit* heh, whoops, just noticed your other thread on TF 2.

Valve is totally kickin'---I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- and taking names lately.   :notworthy:

The new Source engine tweaks are said to (possibly) include depth of field (as seen on the Portal gun), and motion blur. The TF2 screenshots are said to depict multiple source shadows (better shadowing altogether).

On top of HDR, this is just getting crazy. I've got a dual-Xeon /GeForce 6800 OC Ultra and it's probably gunna choke!

I posted about this downthread in EE; linked to YouTube. You might want to add these links to that thread,  if you feel like it.

Man, I tried playing HL a few months ago.  Years ago, my younger brother introduced me to CS.  I played that for a few months, and wasn't that great (although I'm quite good on Halo, Goldeneye, and other console FPS.)  My dialup versus other peoples'cable/dsl didn't help though.  Anyway...I tried playing HL to give it a go, and damned if my mouse hand wasn't hurting within an hour.  Couldn't keep going.  It's been so long anyway, I wasn't interested in trying to beef my skills back up.

God CS was a freaking fun game.

You'll be fine. I'm running episode 1 on an OpenGL based card (which has minimal DirectX support) and the thing flies at 1280 x 1024 with most bells and whistles switched on. (Antialiasing is the only feature which slows me down)
Now in a tasty new flavour.

My 6800GT (before my upgrade)did HL2s HDR in 2048x1536 with no problems. With full everything cranked.

Wouldnt worry to much man.
