well thats odd...
« on: June 28, 2006, 06:47:09 pm »
So, awhile ago I bought a Championship Bowling converted from a Centipede. But just the other day I found it for MAME, I noticed something a bit different from the version I was playing on mame and the original board I own (which isnt installed in anything so I cant go back and look it over. But from the pictures I have, the background is not the same color, on Mame its black, but on my board, its green. look for yourself in the pics below. I wonder if maybe there were different versions of this game.

Either that or not quite emulated correctly.

You could post on MAME Testers and Reip will probably take a look.  But it wouldn't be a bad idea to dump your roms as well just to be sure.

I dont think mines bootleg, as it says Romstar and Seta all over it, and i have the original manual.

Its probably just an incorrect emulation like 2600 said.

This is the only board I really frequent if someone wants to pass this along to whomever could use the info.

I'll report it, but before I do, are there any other differences you know of?

Not sure if you can dump the chips, but if not can you read the labels off them if there are any?

theyre labeled the same as the zip archive except on this board theres a sticker on two of the chips that say ab1-009 and ab1-008 instead of ab-001-008 and ab-001-009. I cant cleanly peel them off to see what the original name was but i'd assume theyre the same.

here are a couple of pictures of the board, I also noticed in mame that under 'dip switches' there are quite a few, around 15 if i recall. My board only has 8.

I'll post a note about it.  I'll refer them to here, but if they ask questions there I'll ask you in this thread.

Could it be a physical problem? As in the monitor isn't displaying color properly?

i suppose its possible, but all of the other colors seemed to display correctly as far as i could tell.

look at the pics, it doesnt look to me as if theres a green hue.

but, i could be wrong, it wouldnt be the first time  :P

yes, it never has a black background as I recall, except for in the testing mode.

I added the only pics of the other screens I have, but theyre still green.
