be prepared to spend almost $200 for the chip and the install.... or try to install the 40-something wires yourself.

I saw the video a few days ago.  It's very nice, but for the cost, I'm not very excited about it... especially since you can play next to everything on a 1.5.  The few that you CAN'T play, just aren't worth $200 to me.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

this chip is more for people who cant play anything 'cause they bought a 2.7 psp.  The price is premium 'cause its first.  Price will drop.

Yeah, my friend just sent me a link to that.

Very exciting news.  I'll likely keep my PSP as a 1.5 until everything is working perfectly, but I'm excited that this may mean 2.7 will be cracked soon.

While its cool that you can run homebrew and what not on later bios revisions using the GTA exploit, IF the modchip price dropped a bit, the convenience of just clicking a program to open it is a major plus to me.

The install is still the big stepping stone for me.  Even if the chip drops to $40, you still have to contend with 40+ solder points in a very confined area.  My soldering skills are nowhere near up to the task, and the install price is hovering in the $100 range, and probably won't deviate from that anytime soon.

The eLoader is super easy to use, and a 1.5 even more so.  I'll take the 5 second load time for a loader and keep my $140-200 anyday :)

I do see your point though... I just don't see it being a good deal dollar-wise anytime soon (not for me anyway).

luckily, I have a friend who is a soldering genious as he used to be the lead solderer then supervisor for a circuit company that specialized in $300,000 boards for lucent and other big billion dollar companies.

He said he'd do it for me for free.

If I had a friend like that, I'd do it if the chip was $50 or less.

Any friend of yours is a friend of mine.   ;)
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen
