I've got Stella working using GameEx as the FE on my new arcade.  Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly how I configured it.  As I work in Michigan but live in Houston, it will be this weekend before I have a chance to post my config.  If you haven't gotten it working by then, I'll post relevant sections of my configs.

Marine1142:

What I did to get Stella to go full screen was when I start a game you hit "Tab" which brings up the video, audio, input selections...if you go to video, there is a box to check for fullscreen...just turn it on, should work.  If you are using GameEx as your frontend, there is a command line for GameEx as well that starts Stella full screen that is preloaded...just make sure your working path for Stella is correct.

Chris, I'm anxious to hear something about your use of GameEx.  I am also using GameEx, but when I send it to Stella in full screen mode, some of the image is off screen.  Do you have a way - or know what we need to do - to do a full screen via GameEx that will show the entire playing field on screen?

Here is my gameex.ini for Stella.  As it turns out, I used most of Stella's defaults so I didn't post that file.  This probably won't be that helpful for you, Marine1142 - sorry.

RTSDaddy2, I don't think GameEx will be responsible for screen issues in any emulator as it simply launches the executable.  You probably need to just run Stella outside of gameex and tweak it until it looks good and it should be OK when run via gameex.

GameEx ini snippet for Stella.  All emulator options that were not used, i.e. had no values to the right of the = have been removed.

In my other post dealing with stella for you I indicated the command line options you should use were the following:

  -fullscreen 1 "%path%\%rom%.%ext%"

Sorry to dreg up an old topic but I'm noticing that this will not bring Stella to fullscreen on my cab... I can get it to go fullscreen on my laptop but on my cab, which uses a standard TV, it goes "fullscreen" but in reality it only looks about 1/4 of the size of the screen, surrounded by a black frame.  Anyone know how to knock this up to full screen? I"m wondering if it's something outside of Stella, like in my video drivers or something...

I am not at home right now, but you might want to see if stella has some resolution or video command line options you could try out.  When certain emulators did not display properly on my TV, I just tried all the video option combinations and something usually ended up working.   If nothing works, then I would play around with your video card settings and see what happens.

Do you have other non-Mame emulators on your cabinet which display fine, or is this the first non-Mame emulator you are trying to add.

Far be it from me to even make out like a software expert, because I'm not - but I do have a question.  Vid, I am curious if it has something to do with the version number of Stella - the new, supposedly stable one just crashed my computer when I tried to go to fullscreen (restart, notification of flaw with active desktop, etc).

The method I mentioned did work with version 2.1 on my computer....just a thought.

Also, what I've found today is that I will probably have to do the TAB ingame but then click on "game properties" and just tweak the settings there per game to get everything as nicely displayed as I can.  I have Pac-Man as close to perfect as it seems to want to get at about 156 wide, 206 horizontal.  Remember I am using a wide screen TV though.

Again, my two cents for what they're worth....

ive got stella working, and its in fullscreen with no problems.  my problem is that when i try to start a game in mala, it brings up the rom browser instead of just the game.  im sure its a config issue (i followed unclet's tutorial) that i messed up on as far as the command line stuff.  i read the documentation and it mentioned that if you start a game using the command line, the rom browser is disabled.  not so!...at least on mine.  what gives?
