« on: June 26, 2006, 12:53:59 am »
Hey Everyone, Im thinking about getting a CGA Arcade Monitor (I found that I can pick up an old 19" Ms. Pacman monitor for about 90$ :D), but Im still worried about how Im gonna hook it up to my PC (yes its a MAME cab), and it would be very nice if someone would help me out jus' a bit :D...Thank you. :dizzy:

Search the forum a bit about.....

ArcadeVGA - which is an AGP video card
Powerstrip - software which can modify video output frequencies

And get the pinout for that monitor.
Probably a WG4600. (verify this)

Also be prepared to know which MAME frontend you will be using.

I'm not a MAME expert, but start there for some understanding of it anyways.

Some frontends are easier to manipulate as far as screen resolutions go.
That's a question for the true Mamers out there....hopefully they can explain it better than I can.
They talk alot about using MameWah, maybe check that out too.

Or you could go vanilla and just use MAME32 with the ArcadeVGA in windows.

It works OK for me but if I wasn't so slack, I'd probably try and make it pretty as well.
Now in a tasty new flavour.

In windows it doesn't. The frontend will always use an existing windows resolution.

For DOS and Linux there are frontends which can program the graphics card directly and create custom resolutions.
