Size changing in mame
« on: March 08, 2003, 06:46:54 pm »
I am using the windows command line mame in my cabinet. I have run into a problem I haven't figured out yet. This is my layout:

Most games don't even use the thumb button (7) and so far this has happened 2 times. Out of frustration when I lost, I sorta pressed all the lower row buttons at once and out of nowhere - the games picture became half the size with a fat@ss black border around it all. This happened while playing MKII and SF2. In MKII, buttons 2 & 5 are mapped to do the same thing (block). Button 7 is mapped to nothing in these games but it is the "ui_select" button in the menus. The only way to get the size to revert to the correct one is to close the game and restart - this kinda sucks when your fighting the last boss!

Any ideas here?

Yes, it's due to the fact that you have alt mapped as a button.  It still boggles my mind as to why the mame devs decided to use that as button number 2.

Alt and certain key combinations adjust the display and also switch focus to other apps.  Remove alt as one of your keys.  I personally replaced alt with v and changed my main ctrlr file accordingly.

Thank you Howard. That never would have occured to me but now that you told me it seems to be the case here. Looks like I will have to program the J-PAC accordingly 8)
