not smarter than my monitor!
« on: June 20, 2006, 01:28:45 am »
I am doing a pc to jamma cabinet and have all the wiring done but cannot seem to get my pc to work right with the monitor.

I have a wells gardner k7000 monitor and am hooking up my compaq p1.8 computer to it. I have downloaded powerstrip and had a picture come up once finally but it is so distorted that I can barely read anything.

My frustration comes that when I go to change my settings in powerstrip to arcade vga, my computer monitor goes out of sync,so I hook up to the arcade monitor and it is so grainy that I cant get the trackball to point to the spot to save the settings.

There must be an easier way to do this. I have a copy of mame 32 loaded on my windows desktop. Do I have to have a different program load up when I start my computer so it goes into dos or starts a resolution program or what are the (EASY TO UNDERSTAND) steps that I should be doing? I am not a programming expert so when I read half of these forums, they look like french to me!

If you can give me any suggestions, please reply in simple to understand methods. I can't believe the Oilers lost the cup tonight!!!!!
Tanx much!

When you say it's distorted, what exactly do you mean?

And oh yeah...what's your video chipset?  Some will not do 15KHz.

I finally got it to come on to my arcade monitor and windows is just that you can't see the icons and printing very well. I adjusted the focus which helped but I click on an icon which I know what it is and then the eges are blurry. I downloaded atomic fe onto the computer and it lokks actually not bad on there, but I can't find any instructions to load my roms or what I have to do with the program. Is there a better program to use. I am not running all the new games, just the very old classic games like sinistar, zookeeper etc. Where do I find info on my chipset? Is it for my videocard or my monitor?
Thanx
Slowly gettin' it
