ledwiz software question (ledwiz87.exe)
« on: June 19, 2006, 12:05:36 pm »
Got all my leds, buttons, ledwiz etc all installed in my CP (many many thanks to Randy T at GGG).

I've tested each button and all my wiring works (wayhay !).

The problem I'm having is with the ledwiz87 software. I run it, right click on the taskbar icon, select Open Panel, click on LumAura Control. If I try and load in any of the "default" .lwa files I get an empty panel - theres no frames therefore the play button is greyed out. This happens with my own saved animations too.

What am i doing wrong ?

If I load up the software and highlight each led then the corresponding led on my CP lights up. If I press Play then i get the animation running - but this only works with the animation I'm working on.

Using the ledwiz software on the GGG site from a couple of days ago so presumably I haven't got an old version.

Circo,

No, its plugged directly into my PC. Theres no problem with the buttons lighting if I create an animation and run it - its when I try an load a previously saved animation that the software doesn't appear to work (both mine and the supplied defaults).

Here's the answer I got from Randy concerning this topic:

"Unfortunately, the load option has not been implemented yet in the software.
As the software does a "crunch" of the data when it is saved from the editor, un-crunching it so the editor can use it again requires a complicated little piece of code that I have not yet written.

I am considering some revamping of the software, so I am reluctant to spend an awful lot of time on the current version.  But once I can get back to working on it, the load feature will take a priority."

nope - I gave up on the ledwiz87 program as I decided in the end that the "standard" set of animations was good enough. The ones you and edge put into the MaLa plugin work really well - for some reason I thought everyone would need to modify them for their own setups but they just work without any fiddling.

I did start a VB6 project but abandonded it int the end. I got it to load lwa's and sort of play them. But I never got round to the edit or save portions of the code. And its been a long time since I last did some coding so it was a total mess !

It looks like arzoo is making a LWA animation editor that can be used by anyone. Nice guy ehh?

I should have my LED animation editor completed in a few weeks. You'll be able to create a virtual representation of your control panel, but you'll need to define the LED devices and ports using the LEDBlinky config app. The output will be standard LWA format. Hopefully it will all work.  :o

Nice one Arzoo ! I use the edge/loadman led plugin - I take it I can install your plugin just for defining the devices/ports without interfering with their plugin ? And I presume I then turn your plugin off after creating the device/ports ?

And finally - will the animation "maker" be a stand alone exe or part of your plugin ?

Cheers in advance.

No, you won't need to install my plugin, just a couple of stand-alone apps.
