Video cards and Arcade Monitors
« on: March 07, 2003, 05:13:15 pm »
Are video cards the ONLY way to allow your computer's display to be on something like a TV?

And do arcade monitors have Audio/video or S-video inputs?  If not, what do they use for inputs?

Me? I use my telepathic powers to get my computer to display on my TV.  Only drawback is that it doesn't work when I'm wearing my tinfoil hat (which is pretty much all the time)

ps this message board is divided into different sections, you might have better luck in the "monitors/video" forum/part of this message board...

Have you looked up arcadeVGA from ultimarc.com?

Well there are scan converters...BUT they cost a lot..i bought an extron super emotia scan converter and it looks VERY good when used with s-video TV.IF YOU ARE LUCKY,then you might find one from ebay..An ati cards gives me almost same quility anyways so why bother hunting down some scan converter(i bought to use 15khz arcade monitor but i would use video card if i ever wanted to use TV).

Are there any video cards that will allow me to play on either a TV or Arcade Monitor?

..this is even a question..?

Sure there are video cards that will let you play on your TV..ever heard of ati radeon video cards?

Those have s-video output and get a tv that has s-video input and you have it.

You get andy's arcade vga video card if you wanna use arcade monitor..i understand you are like new and all.. :)

From what I've read, it seems like you need separate video cards for TV and Arcade Monitors.

okay lets make things clear.

The only way to display windows on arcade monitor is andy's card or scan converter like how i have.

andy's video card dont have any tv out so yes you do need a seperate video card for TV.

Also,if you just wanna play games on your arcade monitor and okay with using dos and no windows then you can use arcadeos and give up windows.

you still get to play all your mamegames without buying andy's card or scan converter.

Things are little clear right?  :)

But you have to have an arcade monitor to set up the TV-out. So, for using it with a TV while you save up for an arcade monitor (which paulkortne likely wants to do), it might as well not have a TV-out.

Most monitors use RGB inputs.
