Kortek monitor problems
« on: June 03, 2006, 06:31:53 pm »
Hello there, was wondering if anyone could help me out here, I'm sure it's not a biggy but has me baffled, whilst adjusting the b-cut off pot on my monitor neck board last night with a flat head screw driver I must have pushed to hard it and shorted it as it sparked and the monitor now shows no picture, if you turn up the contrast on the monitor it displays a white or grey background depending on how far I push it so I have power to the tube. I have checked the fuses and they are all intact, after discharging the tube and monitor and checking it over it all seems fine, but I'm afraid I simply don't have the tech skills to diagnose the problem I wonder if anyone on this board has any ideas that spring to mind, I'm sure it's got to be something simple. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
btw my monitor is a kortek and the tube is a samsung

You may have damaged that particular pot or a color driver transistor also on the neckboard. Possibly an adjacent component on the neckboard may have been damaged.

It's possible that anything could have happened and it might be wiser to take this monitor to a professional for repairs.
