PC reboot when resolution changes??
« on: May 29, 2006, 08:53:15 am »
Hello guys,

I am still struggling in the Monitor forum so I will try my luck here.
I have the following setup;

ASUS motherboard with AVGA installed. AVGA driver is correctly installed with Tri-sync utility.
I have used refreshforce, powerstrip, multires and ultimarc's quickresfor the AVGA. Mamewah + mame are correctly configured since they work with another card which I used to install everything Pre-AVGA.

The problem I have is the following;
Whenever I switch to anything else than 640*480, the PC reboots! My question is the following;
What could be the problem? The PC switches resolutions without any problem if I install a different videocard + standard monitor. Several things have come to mind;

* Is there a conflict in software used (i.e. Multires and quickres are virtually the same)?
* Did I configure Refreshforce incorrectly somehow(I have restored original settings and it recognizes all AVGA modes flawlessly)
* I have used Powerstrip to create a custom driver for the D9200 monitor (max lines 640*480*60Hz and max refresh rate 32 Mhz, 60Hz) which the PC recognizes).Something I have overlooked??

I have tried for several days without end to no avail. I am at the end of my wits here. I would appreciate it if you could give me some pointers or ideas.

Thank you in advance,
Gaston

If you have windows xp you can go to your  display properties and click on "settings" and then go to "advanced"settings and look under the "general" tab .you should see an option that says "Apply the new settings without restarting" . I hope this helps .
