Movie screensaver bug in MameWah?
« on: May 22, 2006, 09:01:46 pm »
When MameWah is in screensaver mode for an extended period of time (about 4 hours in this instance), and error message appears when coming out of the screensaver and showing the game selection again...

"MAMEWAH"
"Run-time error '9':"
"Subscript out of range"
"(OK)"

When I press OK MameWah terminates.  :-\

My screen saver is set to movie with background menu music playing. I'm running MameWah as a shell on Windows XP Pro. My arcade PC is a P4 1.6GHz, 512MB RAM, 256MB NVidia Video 5500, the mpg codec the video uses is MPEG-1 (decoder comes standard with Windows).

As I mentioned, I only get this error when it's been left in screensaver for a long time. I tested the random game and exit screensaver mode and left it for a few hours without any problems.

Any help or suggestions would be helpful, thanks! :)

I'm in the process of switching to MameWah from AdvanceMAME.  I get the run-time error  9 moments into the screensaver process (without any video showing).  I'm actually researching why I don't get any video (previews or screensavers)

Well, I fixed my movie preview problem, thus maybe this will help you.

I always crashed w/ the run-time error b/c I didn't have the correct plug-in to recognize the .avi files.  The MameWah log kept reporting "bad movie file".  In Windows Media Player it would report it didn't have the correct codec.

When I determined I needed the Vidx codec, downloaded and installed it, my movie previews began.

My guess is if there is a bad .avi file, Mamewah gives that error and crashes.  Maybe you have just a single bad movie file and it takes a long time of random playing before it is reached.  If the MameWah log doesn't list the bad file, I'm not sure how you'll determine which the bad .avi file is.

Good luck.

The Run Time Error 9 should not happen - have you tried the latest beta release of Mamewah (see the Mamewah / ArcadeOS board @ Mameworld).

Yeah,  I thought the same thing, however I do have the correct codecs and the video shows in both WMP and MameWah fine - it just crashes if left in screensaver mode for a few hours... maybe I should be playing the arcade more?  ;D

Will do - thanks :)
