Issues with game resolution
« on: May 21, 2006, 02:50:26 pm »
I took a look on the forum for the answer to this but couldn't come up with anything. (maybe searching the wrong key words...)

But I am running MAME32 and am trouble with a number of games positioning on the screen and resolution.

Games like:
Penguin Wars
WWf Westlefest
Pang
Star Wars
Magic Sword
and a whole list of other are shifted too far left or right and are just way too big to fit on the screen.

There are games that do work ok:
2-on-2 Open Ice
Radian and all the table top games.

But most have that shift.

Is there anything that i am doing wrong or not doing??
 ???

My video card is a Radeon 9000Pro running with a duel display out.
One to my monitor and the other to my TV-Out.
My resolution is set to 1024x768

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as it is getting really annoying and difficult to play some of these games... :(

Thanks.

Get the mame resolution tool and force the resolution that works.

http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.htm

The util is pretty straight forward you shouldn't have a problem figuring it out.

No.  The resolution tool will create .ini files in the 'cfg' directory that specify which resolution each game should be run at (each game can be set for a specific resolution instead of letting MAME auto select the "best" resolution).
