Mamewah layouts - Am I missing something here
« on: May 16, 2006, 05:06:29 am »
Hi All,

I have come to the end of my tether and have even resorted to reading the .txt files in the docs folder - but to no avail.

I have two emulators at the moment MAME and FCEU.

I have set up two lots of ini files one called mame and one called fceu - usual mame-0, mame-1 etc and the same for fceu.

I have created two subfolders under layouts, also called mame and fceu.

In these I have creted the respective groups of mame.lay, mame-main.jpg etc.

In the mamewah.ini if I use mame as the layout it works, but if I change emulators the fceu one does't come up, and if I use fceu the mame ones don't work.

Is this not possible?

Cheers
John

I'm going to recycle this thread, as there's little to no point to make a new one.  I've got mamewah working mostly the way I want it to.  Anyways, I'm using MAMEWAH v1.62b10 I'm looking to do the following:

I'm using different layout/themes for each of the emulators (atari 2600, mame, fceu, etc) and when I switch from one to another, I have to reset the theme, as it goes back to the default.  Is there anyway to prevent this?

For some of the other emulators, is there an easy way to remove the clones?  I really don't need 30 versions of mario brothers.. just one.

Any help is appreciated, and I appologize if this was covered in another thread 2 or 3 days ago  :banghead:   Cheers!

What do you mean by 'reset the theme'?

As for getting rid of the clones you could apply a filter to the list.

Everytime I switch emulators, it goes back to the default theme.  I have to change it back to the desired theme every time.

I'm assuming the mamewah custom list generator will help eliminate some of the clones.  Is there someplace else where I can just download a filter to apply to mamewah?

Under the docs, there should be one that explains the hierarchy of the files. You will need to have a layout with the emulator name, such as atari.lay atari being the ini name of the emulator. Once you do that for every emu, it should be automatic.

Hiya

Check the following

1. In the mamewah.ini you have the directory where the all the layouts reside defined
2. All your layouts and artwork are in the same directory
3. In the specified directory you have a XXX.lay and a XXX-main.jpg (or png), and yyyy.lay and yyy-main.jpg.  The XXX and yyyy correspond exactly to the name of you .ini files in the .ini directory (so if you have customs you need zzzz-1.lay and zzzz-1-main.jpg)
4. Try and keep all the layouts the same size and res.

Cheers
