MR DO ,..i need pcb help,...
« on: May 15, 2006, 10:06:52 pm »
ok,..ill make this short and sweet,..i have a pcb universal MR DO board that my friend Jimmy gave me to look over and possibly fix with the help of YOU EXPERTS  The pcb has 2 wires soldered on to it ,..heres the locations on the board,..one wire is at W9,(c86) bottom of chip welded at the 6th pin,....and the other wire is at>>L2, top of chip,7th pin,..and also connected to something that looks like a brown circle thingy (c52)and that thingy has the #50 on it,...this looks like some hack,..(JUMPER CABLES),..any way,..i tried to hook it up to my generic cabinet thats currently playing LADYBUG,..im using the ladybug adapter and it works,.. but there is no fire/shoot working,..being that my control panel has a fire/shoot button i would of thought that it would work,..but then i guessed that the ladybug adapter doesnt require a feature like that,..so,..im stuck,.. the questions are ,1) what are those wires doing soldered on the chips,..Is it a hack for a fire/throw?..and 2)how do I get my mr do board to work on my cabinet,..do i get a mr do adapter?..or do i hack the ladybug adapter,..HELP ME OUT! by the way,..the pcb is original,..non jamma,..the serial number for BOTH chips are (74LS74AN 8147 SA)

In case you don't have the manual for Mr. Do .....
http://www.arcadedocs.com/vidmanuals/M/mrdo_2.pdf

It appears pin 22 and 23 on the wire harness/PCB are for the "fire".
23 was used on the cocktail version for player 2, so you probably just need a button tied into pin 22 on one side and the other end at a ground.
Your Lady Bug wire harness may just not have that pin wired in.

look over and possibly fix
Just out of curiosity.....what is the problem you are/were originally trying to fix?
The KLOV pic of the Lady Bug cabinet shows a button in the blue section of the control panel, what is that for?

Some older boards had revisions done to them, etc....so some of that extra stuff MAY belong there. (chip jumper wires, extra caps and such) I would ignore for the time being.

((((( KEVIN,..the problem i was trying to fix was ,..there are two wires soldered on the mr do pcb, i just cut them off being there was no use for them,....it had nothing to do with the shoot button,..so i took your advice and wired a button on my control panel in my generic cabinet to the MR Do pcb,..and it worked using my ladybug adapter,...get it?)))  now the control panel you showed me,(in the pic) is not all original,..that button on the blue area is nothing more than a hack job!

I thought that button looked "odd" on that Lady Bug control panel........like it had been added or something. . . see . . . we can all learn something from these things.

Glad to help out, and to hear you got it tested out good.  ;D
