Transporting cabs long distances, chance of rain - any tips?

I'm heading six hours away tomorrow to pick up a cab, but its size demands that I use a pickup instead of my normal van. Right now I'm showing a 20% chance of thunderstorms at my destination and a 40% here at home in the evening. Any tips on protecting the cab in case I do hit rain?

I'm at least planning on getting a roll of plastic (or a tarp) and some pallette wrap - figure that will be a good start, but any other recommendations would be great.

Oh, and of course, the truck will only be available tomorrow, so I can't simply postpone the trip unfortunately.

Wrap it in plastic and lay it on it's side if you can. That will keep the monitor and CP as dry as they can be.

Throw a tarp over it too.  If it gets wet, that's not too bad. Just make sure that the monitor doesn't have moisture condensed on it when it gets plugged in.

Unwrap it and let it dry out for a day if you can before you plug it in if it gets wet.

My buddy laid a machine out in the weather for about a month on it's side.  We got it in and let it dry out and it was fine.

I use this and if you wrap it right it doesn't matter how much it rains.

Just be sure to wrap the top first,(Or cap the top with a piece of plastic) then wrap around the side to create a good water barrier.

I also transport upright, so the top only gets a little bit and the side facing front takes the brunt of abuse.

Thanks for the tips. We'll have to see what works out. Hopefully I can pick up some pallette wrap locally - I had been planning on getting some but haven't seen any so far.

When you tarp it (likely I don't have to say it,but...) make sure the edges are *outside* the truck, that way the water falls outside, and not in the truck bed.

I didn't see this thread in time. If I would, I would have suggested to put two or three wood bars under the cab to avoid the danger of water flowing into the wrap.

It was terrible. Alligators ate the cab alive. Oddly enough, it was a frogger machine. If only it could have gotten on the back, it could have hopped to the end.
