  • Retro-gamers don't just play, they reminisce.
I am currently running Mamewah v1.61 along with MAME32 v105 and the v105 romset.

The gamelist that Mamewah is generating are the short zip names ("mvsfu" instead of "Marvel vs. Street Fighter").

I understand that I need to generate a "dat" file with the true game names on it, but I dont know how to do this. A tutorial or a point in the right direction would be great.

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Hello you should have done some reading and you would have found the answer (though i never did)

i was in the same situation as you and was helped out by unclet (top man he is  ;D)
but never got my roms to name themselves correctly.
look at the thread and follow what unclet advised me to do and it may work for you. i think it didnt work for me as i use mame32 not command line mame.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=52285.msg512576#msg512576   hope this link helps

in the end i gave up with mamewah and used a differant front end (M.A.L.A)
which was a lot easier to set up and looks great.

regards

    • MAMEWAH
Use the default settings which come with Mamewah...namely:

list_generation_method rom_folder_vs_listxml

Mamewah is preconfigured for MAME.  Note that MAME32 is not recommended, the standard Windows commandline version from www.mame.net is.
