MAME/Tab menu/Analog setting, how to select Mouse 1 X only?
« on: April 27, 2006, 05:19:37 pm »
 In MAME/Tab menu/Analog setting, how would I  select Mouse 1 X only?

I added a Joy1 device and now my Tornado spinner acts funny. I am assuming it's because in Analog control setting, Mouse 1 X and Joy 1 X are both options. How do I select just Mouse 1 X? I tried selecting to change and moving spinner but that doesn't work. What do I type to signify Mouse?

Thanks

You don't type anything, you just move the mouse.

Also using the "device type" constants rather than manually turning on mouse and joystick reduce interference.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not as smart as I used to be. I have the tornado spinner hooked up through USB port. That is considered a mouse correct? I did try moving spinner but it did not register in the Tab/options menu.

I am sorry, but I'm confused by the second part of your reply. I do have mouse and Joy stick marked as "on". What other option do I have? I'm turning 40 this year and I set this up when I had a few more brain cells. apparently.

if you are using a recent version of mame then you turn both of those OFF..

towards the bottom of yoru mame.ini you'll find entries like...

trackball_device =
adstick_device =
dial_device =

ect....

set dial_device = mouse and mame will automatically turn on only the mouse for all games with spinners, thus keeping the joystick from screwing it up.

This should be obvious, but don't pause mame when you are remapping keys, it has to remain nupaused or you can't mapp analog controls.

Also it's not in the analog settings.... that's where you adjust the sensitivity, not where you bind the controls.

In controls this game you should run across something like "dial analog axis"  that's where you remap it.

Ahh...Thanks again for your help. I'll be doing that tonight. My 8 year old who will soon best my Discs of Tron hi-score thanks you also. It took him to show me that I wasn't as good at video games as I thought. It's great though.

Thanks for listening.
