best redemption-type games
« on: April 26, 2006, 12:39:17 pm »
I've always liked skeeball and whac-a-mole.

If I was looking for a redemption-type (doesn't need to have tickets) game that I was going to put in a restaurant or a bar... what would be the game that if you saw you would have to play?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the input.

Crane games make good money, and people are always willing to spend up to $5 trying to win a $1 prize.  We have 4 crane games at Dave & Busters and they're consistently in our Top 10 list for sales.  Our watch crane machine has a bunch of non-operational display watches on a rear shelf at eye-level inside the machine.  At least once a week, a customer will ask me how to get the claw to grab them. ::)  I usually look them right in the eye and tell them that all you need to do is press up up down down left right left right and start.  People actually believe me until it doesn't work :laugh2:  You could stock it with cheap jewelry/trinkets or plush.

You could also just put in a candy/prize/sticker vending machine like the ones made by the Beaver Co.
It doesn't matter if you win or lose....it's how you play the videogame.

I like those pirate cove shooting games.
You don't get tickets, but you can get the targets to squirt water at the other players.

I always play the basketball game with the moving backboard. They always pissed me off, but I still play them.

I was at Dave n Busters 2 weeks ago and got addicted to "Eyebot". It's basically a platform with 3 holes in it and 5 or 6 of these plastic eyeball balls. You can tilt the platform in all directions with a joystick.

Weird thing is every site I search to find that game comes up as broken. Even the manufacturer no longer lists it on their site. Too bad...
NO MORE!!

a place i sometimes have lunch at has a redemption machine, a 4 in 1 cocktail and a point blank. i derrive some amusement by watching slightly dotty looking old women earning something to eat on the candy machine. they are normally quite good too. 2 bucks seems to get them at LEAST 2 bucks of chocolate. me, i know the real value is in the other two machines...

Thanks for all the replies.

I always thought crane games were a little tacky.  But I guess it doesn't really matter if they're bringing in the cash!

Anybody ever played Ice Cold Beer?     Does it play well?  Fun?
