mamewah problem after a registry repair
« on: April 24, 2006, 05:04:13 pm »
Okay, so I am pulling my hair out on this one. Make a long story short, my J-Rcade is running XP Pro. I was having issues with the trackball, and was shutting down and rebooting the system several times in quick succession. At some point in time, something bad happened and the registry was corrupted. A chkdsk /r did not fix it, I had to basically replace all the registry files from console, from the repair folder. Got everything back for the most part, however mamewah is acting really strange.

It opens up fine, all roms are there, I even regenerated the list, and it worked. The layouts are fine as well, except for one thing. All the snaps no longer show up, on any of the emulators. I checked the path in the all the .ini, and paths are all valid. On a whim I tried replacing the mamewah .exe with a new one, and same thing. I also tried renaming the snap folder to something else, and changing it in the .ini, just to see. Anyone have a clue on what would cause this behavior?

You may try to (re)download system files and register them (setup.bat):

http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.htm -> Download System Files! (2.37MB)

Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

You sir, are the man. I can't believe I didn't think of that. It has been so long since I installed it, I had forgotten about the system files download. It works like a charm now. Thanks!
