Name That Movie...

ok guys,

i've got this movie in my head without a title and everyone thinks i'm just crazy.  The movie is a comedy about this group of people (going seperatly in couples or families) on vacation.  The end up at this (haunted) castle.  One of the major parts i remember is when they are watching this theatre production abuot a ship at sea, and the whole thing comes alive, and i'm sure it involved an octopus/squid.  it seems like it was an early 80's or even late 70's movie, but i'm sure it didn't come out in the 90's.

also, i remember watching it on tv as one of those saturday afternoon movie things.  give me any and all ideas, i just don't want to not know what it is anymore and prove i'm not crazy.

I believe the movie your thinking of is High Spirits.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095304/   I haven't seen it in a really long time so I might be confusing it with another movie I saw around the same time.
