Daemon tools should be able to do this with ease. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php

I do all of my deamon tools commandline mounting / unmounting via a batch file I wrote, basically if I pass the batch file an ISO filename, it will:

1) unmount daemon tools device 0
2) mount the ISO on deamon tools device 0
(the reason for the forced unmount is that DT will not remount an identical image, so you get no autorun if you run the same disk twice in a row)

the batch file looks like this (no warranties, no support, if it works for you awesome, if not, sorry)

@echo off
"C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -unmount 0
"C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -mount 0,%1

basically I name this batch file DTmount.bat, and I call it ala "c:\temp\DTmount.bat c:\temp\isofiles\blondage3.iso"

I know there are 3rd party add-ons for DT that take care of all of this for you, I've never checked them out though. Might be easier than what I'm doing.

good luck

I have downloaded DaemonScript.exe which seems to be like batchrun etc to make things easier but i still can't get what i want done 2 work. i have pwoerdvd on my computer (as it came free with my dvd drive) and all i want to do is to be able to play a dvd iso in mamewah just by pressing load game without any other intervention. surely it's not that hard??

why on earth would anyone want to play DVDs on their arcade cabinet?
I mean leave the DVD stuff for your home cinema system!

Heh, famous last words... "surely it's not that hard??"

In theory, it's simple. As I said, I know nothing at all about DaemonScript, I've only ever used my batch file.

BUT... that being said.. I specifically use mamewah ONLY for my gazillion emulators, and not for my half-a-bazillion installed CD games, DVD images, etc... I just use shortcuts in the start menu for those.... the shortcuts run my batch file, which mounts the ISO, which does an autorun, and lets winders take over from there

AND... thinking it through, I have a feeling that what will happen to you when you try to use mamewah for this is... since you are running Daemon tools (or a batch file, or DaemonScript, or...), that's the process Mamewah is going to wait for before it tries to take control of your system again. In other words, mamewah will IMMEDIATELY come back to life, as it will see the process terminate. It will have no idea that PowerDVD took over on autorun.

THAT BEING SAID... you could probably get fancy with AHK or similar, wait for the PowerDVD window to close before exiting. But... if you are stumbling already, I fear that may not be a trivial solution.

So.... surely it CAN be that hard. I don't know that it necessarily is, but surely it CAN be.

First, see if you can get a batch file or daemonscript or something to mount the ISO and autorun PowerDVD. Leave mamewah out of the equation until you get at least that far. Then you can take it more of a step at a time I think, and you will get your solution.

And hey, everybody does something different with their cabs. Though, eventually, I think we all become purists. I used to think of mine as a jukebox, until I realized a dedicated mp3 machine made MUCH more sense than fighting for time with the kids.

good luck

geez, I'd have to ask my kids, as they see the thing every day and I haven't seen it in months!     :hissy:

but anyway... I think it goes something like this:

mame / atari2600 (stella) / atari 7800 (mess) / colecovision (mess) / nes (fceultra) / snes (zsnesw) / n64 (project64) / segamaster (fusion) / playstation (epsxe) / vectrix (mess) / appleII (mess) / c64 (winvice) / futurepinball / nonamemame (for lightguns) / daphne

I never really bothered with dedicated jukebox software. I'm still a winamp junkie, and I suspect I always will be.

Why nonamemame? *shrug*  dunno... I use dual svideo lightguns, and I never was able to find a standard mame compile that got them right. Nonamemame did, and I haven't had need for anything more recent than area51/maxforce duo, so the REALLY REALLY old nonamemame (0.82?) does the trick.

because i want 2 run a dvd of video clips in my games room on my arcade cab when i have a party!!!

why not just setup mamewah to run some avis as a screensaver, so when no one touches the cab at your party, the video plays.
But to run actual dvd or dvd images... i dont get that, sorry.

How do you run N64 emu / games on your cab? Do you have a N64 controller plugged in, because  I know mario 64 on an arcade joystick will be damn near impossible.

You are absolutely right, it IS damn near impossible.

But, some of the games are decently playable. I have a decent number of buttons near each stick, and while it's not the best, it's passable. Sometimes.

Back to the posted question, you might give VLC a try.  Don't know if you will be able to make it work for this application, but it might

Ok I immedaitely saw this thread a deemed it to be a dumb idea and promptly ignored it, but since someone else has already went ahead and said it.... This is a dumb idea.  Like the man said, if you are running a dvd iso instead of a physical dvd it's incredibly stupid to wate your time trying to get the dvd to run when you can just rip the vids and play them with your typical video screensaver which I beleive can be controlled in mamewah anyway.

Btw -1000 intelligence points for mentioning mamewah when this isn't a mamewah-related problem.

Might be worth mentioning I have written a small Windows Media Player 10 COM object player, that will play a media file in full screen then exit when finished. Might not work with DVD's though.

Eg. wmpfull.exe "C:\My Video.avi"
