Atari800Win: Anyone know the key mapping for this emulator?
« on: April 05, 2006, 11:28:09 pm »
I can load Atari800XL games and they come up.  I can press F3 to "select" stuff and F4 "starts" the game, however, once the game starts, I have no idea how to move around.   I pressed all keyboard keys, but nothing allows me to "play" the game.

What am I doing wrong?  How can I play these games?  Musy be some setting I am missing perhaps?

Oh yeah .... I just found this site you might be interested in .....

http://atari.ksiders.tzo.com/a8emulators.html

.... it indicates the Atari800 2.0.0 application (third app listed) was just released Jan 2006 so you might want to give it a try if jum52 is not working out for you .... since it also plays Atari5200

This one has help text which explains all the command line options in detail.

It's so obvious:

Go to Input-Joystick and then for Joystick 1 select Arrows and Rctrl as fire. Deselect the autofire option I'd say.

The Atari 800 originaly had 4 joystick ports. That was the only I think, all others had just 2. Anyway, the emulator wants "joystick" events to happen to control the game. Guess you have to remap the fire key if you're using an Ipac or Jpac or something like that.

Best Atari 8 bit games: Miner 2049er and Bounty Bob Strikes Back. These actualy have their very own emulater by the man who created these brilliant games: check out http://www.bigfivesoftware.com/index.asp it's fun to read all the info on the site too !
