AdvanceMAME questions
« on: April 04, 2006, 03:30:38 pm »
I have a DOS cabinet that runs pretty good but I have a couple questions.
I am running AdvanceMENU, maybe version 2.2.14 and AdvanceMAME 82 or maybe 80.

On some games, a large red square or triangle appears in the upper right corner of the screen. What is this and how can I turn it off?

My tab key is not bringing up the game configuration screen, the key works fine otherwise. I have deleted the default.cfg file in the c:/mame/cfg directory. This did not fix the tab key. I also tried to replace the default.cfg with an old backup default.cfg but that didn't work either. How can I fix my tab key to change in game settings? If I delete the default.cfg, does the MAME automatically create a new default.cfg?

How can I tell what versions of AdvMENU and AdvMAME I am running?

TIA

Half Page Bump for the night crew.

I've read in the FAQ that it is possible to edit the default.cfg instead of deleting it.
When I open this file in DOS edit or in a text editor in OSX I just get gibberish.

Any tips on editing the default.cfg file?

Also, I have a rom set for v82. Can I upgrade to the newest mame version and still use these old roms?

I fixed the tab key.
My mame insn't saving settings to the CFG file, instead it saved the new mapped location for the tab key to the end of the advmame.rc file. deleting this last line 'UI input' reset the tab key.

Now to figure out the red triangle and squares.

Not to shy you away from here, but AdvanceMAME does have it's own forums for technical issues.  Not just that, but I'm pretty sure I've seen the triangle and it's purpose mentioned there.
