Neo Geo Pocket Color-to-Dreamcast Link Cable?
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:45:25 pm »
These things seem to be pretty rare.  I can't find them in any of the local resale shops that have a handful of the systems and games, and I really don't want to pay a big price plus excessive shipping from Hong Kong (assuming that they're in stock).  Unlike the cable, I recently found a copy of King Of Fighters R2 (I don't have a Flash Cart for NGPC, or this wouldn't even be an issue).  After so long of owning KOF99 ('98 with polygon backgrounds) for Dreamcast, I'd like to actually enjoy the interconnectivity of the two titles.  Does anyone know how to build a DIY cable for interfacing between the NGPC and the DC?

 :o

I just remembered that I don't recall what I did with my NGPC, and I'm dying to play SNK vs. Capcom: Millinium Battle!  Too bad most of the world missed out on the NGPC...

I don't know if it's possible to build one. If I remember right, both ends of the cable are proprietary plugs.

I never could justify buying one even when they were available locally. $29.99 just to be able to copy my points over to SNK vs. Capcom and buy extras (which could be earned through normal gameplay of the DC game anyway).  But I never had KOF R2 or KOF for DC.

The KOF games had a few more features according to the link cable FAQ here:

I loved my NGPC, but the link cable (like most unusual peripherals) was never fully utilized.
Brevity is not my strong suit.
