Using 3D Models - Help Wanted
« on: March 27, 2006, 01:24:45 am »
O.K.

3D is just something I have never really gotten into.  I am working on some artwork and I would like to use a couple of free 3D models downloaded from the net.  They are max models.  The idea would be to bring the models in place them possibly make some color changes and then render them.  I don't want anything but the models due to the fact that I will be overlaying them on a background in Photoshop.

Question:

1) What would be the easiest cheapest way to achieve this?

2) What programs would I need - simpler=better

Thanks

Do I understand your question correctly: you're looking for a easy-to-use (cheap/freeware) tool that can render 3D Studio Max models?
I don't know any but take a look here: http://www.3dlinks.com/ there is a software section there.

If you find anything of use, please let us know, it might be helpful for some of us too (for example to render a mockup of a cab or CP)

Milkshape3D ( http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ ) is a commonly used program in the FPS modelling world.  Not sure if it would work for what you want, but it's worth a look.
