Street Fighter help request
« on: March 24, 2006, 09:21:44 am »
Building a Street Fighter cab.  I'm trying to visualize the whole feel of the cabinet now, so I buy the right parts and keep a color scheme going.  My original plan was to have a mish mosh of street fighter art - kinda like the Mamecast project.  But now I'm thinking of going simpler- with just one main image on the control deck and on the sides.  Try to keep it simple and professional looking.  I don't appreciate some mamecabs with a billion screenshots and images plastered all over them.   My main idea is to use this chun li pic and throw a blue lit up trackball in her hands.  I plan on having this for a quad unit, so pretty large.  The pic is too narrow- so I will have to find a way to extend the sides.  Here's the original pic plus an idea of how to extend the image:

any better ideas on how to extend her image?  I'd really rather just have her swirl extended either way.

Also, does anyone have hi res versions of these Street Fighter comic foil artwork?  I wanna use 2 for either side of the cabinet.  Plus a higher res version of chun li would help.

here's a link to my cabinet announcement:

My idea would be to just fade the edges of the pic into the background.

Fantoboy,

I found some great artwork for you that would look great on your cab, and thought you might be interested

Here are some artists from DeviantART (2 to be exact). Just thought JIC you needed some extra art.

As for your situation, I would agree and limit the amount of art and make it clean. The Chun Li situation is difficult because you have a vertical picture built around the track ball. you could border the art into sections based on controls and go from there.

Hope this helps out :)

You can extract chun from that foil pic and put her around the trackball with a street fighter background picture. Something like the pic attached but trackball instead of joystick of course.

As for sideart, those sf comic foils pics arent useable cuz you will have to blow em up by like 1000% of the original size. Instead you can use something from the scans I have from official capcom art book..these are like 2500X2000. Let me know if you want anything from these I can email them to you thanks !

I think I'm gonna buy the lithograph of Chun from club udon, and take a high res photo of it.  Then enlarge it.  I'm dead set on using her pic.

My first post  ;D Heres some more images that I thought might go great for cab art. The first one goes well with your first image.

Where are you guys finding these?  Google image search doesn't turn up anything that good, and AAL is currently out of commission.

shoryuken.com is a good source, and fighter's generation.  Udon comics as well.

I wanna use one foil per side, but they are just too low res.  Here's a slapped together test.

That image is taken from a page of Udon's street fighter comics. I don't think you'll find it by itself with no background.

Photoshop it out with the extract tool.  It would take about 20 minutes.  You can download photoshop cs2 from adobe for a 30 day trial.  You open the pic in the program, and under the filter tab, select extract.  If you do a google search for "photoshop cs extract tool and tutorial"  you should find a step by step tutorial.  Piece of cake.  I learned it just last week and I feel like I'm about 50 times better than the first time I tried it.

You wanna play marble madness/centipede on a Street Fighter Cab?  That's gay....

I have 4 cabs dedicated to fighting games and 1 for shmups.  Make it a different theme if it's going to have a trackball....

I just want one cab in my house.  I figure I'll make it an all out everything cab.  I mostly play street fighter, cvs2, 3rd strike, and mugen.  I'm a street fighter fanatic, I really dont want pacman and dig dug running around or a giant mame logo.  Personal preference.

So does anyone have any ideas on what i can do with that chun li?

No CVS2, or 3rd Strike on MAME buddy.  None of the newer consoles use trackballs either?

Pimp this.  Snake made it..

I know, I plan on having an xbox and ps2 in my cab as well as a pc.  The ipac adapters should make it pretty simple. http://www.ultimarc.com/console.html

take a look at these if you wanna see what I'm thinking of doing:

I'm on SRK alot.  I just PM'd Udoneko to see if maybe he'd be willing to cough up some hi res jpgs of the power foils.  It's worth a shot.
