"Little Monsters" CP completed...
« on: March 20, 2006, 11:21:48 pm »
Just finished up the control panel for a 3/4 scale cabinet I'm building for my kids.  Marquee can be seen in this thread:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=50110.0

I'm using Ultimarc Mag +'s  along with the lighted buttons.  The only downer is that while I set the LED arrays up identically, the yellow buttons seem to pass more light than the red ones and therefore appear to be brighter.  Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

Whaddya think?

somunny,

Let me be the first to say it looks awesome! No cambolts! Did you bottom or top mount your Mag-sticks?

Can't wait to see it!

My old user name was marlborroman13, but I kicked the habit many years ago!

MM,

Thanks my man!  I coutersunk holes, hammered t-nuts into the top of the cp, then bolted the magsticks on from underneath.  Guess I shoulda taken a pic.  I never think of it until I'm done! :P

There have been some discussions about using dimmers on the LED's.
That may be an option, maybe even installing some resistors in-line with the LED's on the yellow side.

Not sure what value of resistors you would need.

It may be worth trying to give the CP a more balanced look.

Good job!

I like it.

I am considering mag plus ball tops for my cabinet.  Let me know how well you like them with gameplay, feel, etc.

The control panel looks great though.

Looks great!  As mentioned, just use higher ohm resistors for the yellow leds to dim them a bit.  Only if it bothers you though, I'm sure it would be some work replacing them.

Thanks for the compliments and advice everyone.  I would throw another resistor in line with the yellow array, but I think the reds are too dim.  The yellows are just right so I'm going to replace the LEDs in the red buttons with some that haven't been 'sandpapered'.

It's better this way as my wiring improved tremendously from one side to the other (I did the reds first).  This will give me the chance to wire it a little more pretty (of course I'm the only person who would ever see it, but all you OCD'ers out there can relate, I'm sure! ;D)

Hopefully, this weekend I'l be able to post some pics of the cabinet progress.
