dead Nanao MC2000S. No neck glow, but 477VDC at neck board
« on: March 19, 2006, 11:52:41 am »
Manual says I should only have have 210VDC present and voltage is varied by the brightness pot (RV503). Any adjustments made to the potentiometer makes no difference in voltage. The flyback hums normally and I do get static from the screen. I've already ordered a cap kit but the excess voltage on the neck board worries me, I'm hoping its only due to a bad cap(s) and not the high voltage regulator transistor. Has any anyone here experienced similar problems and what was the cause?

That depends on how long USPS takes to get it here. Thanks for the quick reply, hopefully the capkit does the trick.

In general, the capkit is usually all this monitor needs.

Capkit arrived and when I went to discharge the montior and install the kit I found the real cause of my problem. At some point the neck board got knocked off and hastily jammed back on, bending two pins of the tube! After carefully straightening them I powered it back up without the capkit and was greeted by a near perfect screen! I still installed the capkit but this reminded me again to always inspect the physical aspects of a problem first.
