Half Life 2 Map project

If any of you are interested i'm starting to get mapping down decently and thought i would advertise my server and get some input on my map here at the same time.

If you care to go to my server, [SS] HALF-LIFE 2, MAP NAMED RP_DM_hOTEL_5, i would like some feedback from guys who play this game on how my map is turning out so far. Good or bad reply here and enjoy.

Do keep in mind the map is only 70% complete but still...

Ok "STAR"

So heres what i think..



Hidden walls, doors, areas.. TO many of them..
Weapons.. what weapons..
Throwables.. Not enough of them
Hallways are to small, open spaces are to well, nonexistant..

The jail, neat, but why?


All in all, the "layout" is ok, things need bumped up in scale a little for hallways and stuff, and maybe some better weapon layouts, and a few more throwables, but all in all it CAN get better..

Yes, i understand its not done.. looking at it as a beta test, its ok, but not enough to play on currently..

Thanks for the input soap, maybe if you knew what the map was about and what kind of players would use this map you might understand abit more.

Only guns in the gun shop store, items in stores are movable to buy and take to your hotel room... its not so much a dm map.

You might not be familar with a rp/roleplay map.... guys dont kill, its a kinda play as if you were in a hotel type map and buy and sell things as a town/hotel.

 I can put guns anywhere on the map in a good layout, thats not the point of it.

Good or bad feedback is ok with me.

Yeah, not to terribly familiar with the RP maps..

Ill tell you what tho, beyond the guns, id still say scale it up a little, and add more throwables :)

I added a admin room so that guys that can find it can press a button and a bomb will go off and kill guys most anywhere in the hotel map, seems like a good little kick to the map and guys seem to like it.

I doubt the all mighty soaper will find it amusing though.  ;D

lol nah that would be quality, so long as it has some kind of cooldown.. would be a shame if someone could press it over and over and over  ;D

I remember an old half-life map that was 1/2 indoors and 1/2 out doors.  there was a button in one part of the map, which when pressed started an air raid siren and all the doors and windows of the buildings would slowly close.  Once they were closed, anyone who didn't make it inside was dead, but they had to wait about 5-10 seconds before they were actually killed.  Made for some fun times.
