Hi

I'm running win 98 with Mamewah as FE, Mame, and everything is looking ok.Now I tried to get VPmame with Mamewah going and I was told to use wrapper in my Table folder for my main EXE from Lazarus web site. To start all I got Visual Install Pack and all works fine from there, but when I tried to use wrapper it gives me that "Winners don't use drugs" screen and won't go away it just sit there. It is happening with mamewah or if I use wrapper (VP_launch4.0) alone from table folder.
Is there something I missed or what is wrong, please help me....thanks

Did you tell the wraper where to find everything?  I didn't know if you just threw it in there or what.  Just a place to start.

No it comes with 3 files and I was told just to place them in Tables folder.
In config folder there is only default ini but I didn't know I should tell it or do anything.
If you know how and where please tell me and I'll try it

Thanks

I appologize, I had it confused with JCrouses wrapper. :-\  So you have had pinmame up and running just fine without the wrapper?

I had the same issue.  I explained the resolution I came up with in this thread

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45758.0

Not sure if it's the same issue, but it's the best I can offer.

Thanks, now I'm little confused but I'll give it a try. The "Visual Install Pack" I downloaded did put all to C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball\ but I moved it back to C:\Pinball\... like I have seen it somewhere on website :-\.
Now part that I don't understand is:
Quote
leaving the install program on your system while launching your first table from within explorer
how and what is install program to leave because I don't remember taking anything off after install ???.
But is true, if I double-click table in explorer it just starts editor.
Just want to ask you if you also use win98 like I do?

I don't entirely understand what you're saying.  I'm using Windows XP.  I'd recommend you delete everything, download everything from the link I provided, and re-install using those directions.

It works now with launcher but info from www.vpforums.com site is a bit confusing it messed me up for a while. Now all I have to get it working with mamewah ;D

Ok, Mamewah is working with wrapper fine for now. ;)
Few more things that I have now are:

1. Resolution, is there any way to set it up higher from 640x480 because if I do
in editor mamewah displays table zoomed in, I can see only corner of the
screen and I have to lower it back in editor down to 640x480 from 1280x1024
2. Screenshoots, it only displays few, like 10% from all available. They are all JPG and
    in same folder :-\
3. Exiting, I found few posts about that but I'm not sure if I understand correctly
is there way of going straight back to Mamewah without having that option
    window Resume Game-Back to Editor??

Thanks in advance :)

1.  Sounds like a video card issue.  When using tv out on older cards with a hi res "panning" is enabled.

2.  There's no name standardization with visual pinball... he only solution is to go through your list od jpgs and rename them manually.

3.  Nope.  The only clean way to exit the game is to let that box come up and then kill vp.  It ensures that the table isn't running so it avoids memory leaks.  There are other reasons too, but that's the main one.

On my computer, vpinball exits all the way back to mamewah.  Only once in a blue moon does that last box show up where I actually have to click on it.

If you're using my wrapper that is because I kill the entire process with an ALT-F4. As most people know, this is a VERY poor way of doing things. I sure wish they had a standard for VPinball. I thought when FUture Pinball cam out they might learn from some of the VPinball peoples issues but as far as folder structure and organization, nothing has changed. However, Future Pinball is an AWESOME system, IMHO.

He's asking is there a way to keep that box from showing up.  You should never have to click on it.  (Although occasionally you might have to press the esc key twice.)

Thank you all, resolution problem I have fixed, it was Mamewah layout thing,
I'm using higher resolution layout now 1024x768 and set up VP to same, now it is lot better. ;D
For screenshoots I'll take care of them later, that can wait.
Exiting is still a problem

when I exit, ESC, gives me option RESUME or QUIT TO EDITOR even if I pres or
hold ESC I still have to Exit to Editor then I get Winers don't use... screen and from there I can ESC back to Mamewah but it leaves VP running in background with that table loaded. So if let's say play 5 tables in row when I quit Mamewah I'll have 5 separate VP loaded with tables on desktop :-\
I see you don't have that problem, it is like wrapper is not killing VP?
Don't know what I'm doing wrong???

Somehow, for the longest time my art didn't work, but at some point it started working properly.  I know this is no help, but it was a problem for me too forever.  I did have my paths checked out with mamewah, so I'm honestly not sure.

I found that my snaps for the pinball tables wouldn't show in Mamewah unless the jpg was named the same as the table. EG: blacknight.vpt & blacknight.jpg

That is the way ALL the images work, for the most part. They must be names exactly the same as the rom (table). When I say ALL images I mean back glass, titles, snaps, playing fields .......

Yes, I found that to, tried to rename some manually and they worked....that is bad, I have so many :o to do. I downloaded Howard Casto artwork renamer, not sure if that is the easier way to go but I'll give it a try.

But I still have that Exit problem Wrapper won't kill VP

Your running 98 right?  98 might not work well with the wrapper.

Just a update, renaming produced 33% match after hours of running, not worth it. Tried beta mamevah, supposed it had better snap match but no luck. After hours of trying to learn how to set it up no snaps :o.
Then I pulled the plug on mamewah, sorry but I don't know how I didn't see MALA before but it is amassing ;D.
Half hour and I had almost everything working, wrapper kills VP, snaps are there, layouts are amassing, you can import them from mamewah I don't know but so far looks perfect. Just their support is mostly in German :-\
I would recommend it to all beginners who struggles whit mamewah

Thanks to all who tryed to help me, this place and you guys are the best
