Anyone? help with fuse on Arcade monitor

I had my arcade monitor working great and when i plugged it in w hile ago it just made  fizzle sound and went out. I checked the Fuse 2A  250V in the monitors board and it seemed to be all messed up so i tried to put in other fuses....after pluuging in the monitor again it just keeps burning out the fuses....i am replacing them with somewhat the same fuse only these have a thinner thread inside. Can this be my problem...anyone know what might be blowing the fuses? im gonna keep testing it out.

Well i kind of figured one thing out, i didnt have slow blow fuses, and the ones i bought at the store the guy swore they are the same...tomorrow im off to radioshack to get some Slow blows...hope this will work sucks i gotta wait till tomorrow.

If your mains fuse on your chassis is blowing then you gotta look at a few problems,posssible degauss circuit short,bridge rectifier short or maybe something on the primary side of the transformer.

without knowing the make / model of monitor (helpful)

check the transistor that is driving the flyback circuit (usually the biggest transistor mounted on the heatsink next to the flyback transformer)

often when they fail they go short circuit which draws far too much current from the mains supply (and blows the fuse)

I just stumbled on this, wondering if you ever fixed the problem. I just obtained a centipede cab with an electrohome monitor, the 250v 2amp fuse keeps blowing on mine also. Radio Shack didn't have any slow burn fuses in 2amp, so all I've tried are the fast ones. Did trying the other fuses help? Any other advice anyone can give?

hey gents if your fuse blows immediately on start up its not a fuse type problem,its a dead short to earth,and its most likely to be the degauss coil or the ptc componant short,then the diodes on the bridge rectifier circuit

I appreciate the help. At this point, I'm just going to look for either a replacement chassis, or just get a new Happs monitor. I'd rather pay $160 for a new one than pull my hair out trying to troubleshoot a 25 year old monitor with screen burn. Thanks for letting me know it's not just a matter of trying different fuses or something simple.

thing is it is something simple,first disconnect your your degauss coil,then if that don't work remove the ptc componant(the black or white three legged device just after your fuse),if that don't work meter out your input diodes-very easy
