Monitors are so cheap in the States.
« on: March 09, 2006, 04:50:26 pm »
I have been following alot of threads on this forum and i am shocked to find how little it costs for monitors and chassis in the U.S :o,we pay at least double for the same thing in the U.k :'(,not only that we don't have stockists for the generic chassis so we either have to repair or buy an original. It seems almost cheaper to replace the chassis than repair it(considering a lopti for a wells gardner will set you back about $70 in the U.k),anyway i wish we had the same over here-it would make my life alot easier :P

Look at the bright side, at least you have scart televisions.  :)

Yeah and we have PAL, which is basically an improved version of NTSC, which has always meant less messing with the TV (to sort out the colour mainly).

Of course, this had the downside of having all the snes games running slower than jap/US versions thanks to lazy-ass programmers not bothering to update the code properly for PAL (they did not adjust for the change from 60 to 50 Hz - just let the console do more work and run slower. slackers.).

Look at it this way, monitors and replacement chassis are even cheaper at their sources in China, Taiwan, and Korea.

We pay way too much here in the USA!
