I just wish Baseball Stars had better memory.  You spend a whole week building the ultimate team and then WHAM the cart loses it.

replace the battery

It's not a battery problem, they were like that NIB.  When your NES is blinky, and they ALL are blinky at one point or another, the power cycling to the cart erases the EPROM.  Happens to all carts with EPROM but Baseball Stars was always very susceptible to that.

is it possible to have the memory ported to a pc like what they do for roms for emulators?

Anything is possible, but it would be stupidly impractical.  I guess the closest you could come with even somewhat reasonable means would be to desolder the eeprom, read it into a PC with an eeprom reader, solder in a socket, then just take the chip out and read it into the PC every time you wanted a backup.

One of my absolute favorites for the NES console was Ultima: Quest of the Avatar.  The NES port of the game was even better graphically than the original PC version that Origin released.  It's still one of my favorite RPGs to date.

I found shatterhand to be a great game.  Rather hard though

...NES Open Tournament Golf...

Of all the hundreds of golf games out there and the dozens that I own, NES Open still gets the most playing time at our house...

If I remember correctly, you are not supposed to power off the NES normally when playing Baseball Stars.  You are supposed to push and hold the reset button, then power off while holding it down.  It's supposed to decrease the probability of the memory getting wiped.

I always did this with Zelda as well and never lossed my game...could have been superstition though :)
