Can i swap anode wire from one monitor to another?
« on: March 02, 2006, 07:36:28 pm »
Hi, still have a hole in the anode wire on a good monitor,, i have tons of
chass-ees laying around with good anodes on them.  Is it possible to remove the anode with the hole in it, and pop in a good one from another chassis?  if so, how ?  do these pull out or twist out ?  thanks again for your ideas,,, mark

If you are talking about just the sucker cup portion then yeah you can swap them IF you can get them off--I've had some that just wiggle off and others were permanently cemented to the anode wire--to get them off i usually just twist them with respect to the wire and if they rotate while the wire holds its position then you are good to go--if not then you might be out of luck
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Underneath that suction cup on the monitor could be 25,000 volts!  To remove an anode wire first you need to discharge the monitor tube.  You place a jumper wire from the metal of the chassis to the metal of a long screwdriver. Once you have the jumper wire in place you slide the screwdriver tip under the suction cup while holding on to the PLASTIC HANDLE ONLY!!!  If you do this correctly you will hear a pop and the tube is discharged.  If you do this incorrectly (by touching anything metal while sliding the screwdriver under the suction cup) you will discharge the tube thru your body causing you to have heartburn for three days if it doesn
