Anyone know of a PCI card that supports component outputs?
« on: March 02, 2006, 09:19:47 am »
I've searched and didnt seem to come up with anything so I am hoping someone here may have a little insight.  For the past year or so I have been using a single computer to run dual displays one for my pc games and the other is a 27" Sharp television (in my cab).  The PC monitor uses the standard connection and the TV uses the component connection (I have the ati dongle for my 9800 pro).

I have recently acquired a seperate tower that does not have an agp slot ... it has an nvidia asylum PCI card (5500 OC)with s-video out.  I was hoping to use this tower inside my cab that way I can eliminate the wires running from my comp table to the back of my cab.

Now to the question is there any PCI cards out there that will support the component connection? ... I am worried that after playing for so long with the component connection I will not like going to the S-Video as I heard the quality suffers.   Any feedback would be appreciated!

Not likely you'll find one.

Your best bet may be to get a VGA to Component converter.
Now in a tasty new flavour.

yeah I know I am stretching here but the computer was too good to turn down (Free) :)  and it has perfect specs for running the applications I want it too, except missing the AGP   ... I am going to hook it up through S-Video probably tomorrow to see how well it looks, got a feeling its going to be disappointing

if no one has an idea for cards maybe a suggestion for a vga to ypbpr (comp) convertor ... never really had a use for one are they all the same?

well I thought I would update this thread, after searching I have come to a conclusion that there are no PCI cards thats support a component connection.  Most tv-outs are s-video in that line.  I was able to get the s-video working on my existing TV and while it isn't as sharp as my previous connection I was happily suprised with the quality (was expecting a lot more fuzzy details).
