Marble Madness II: Marble Man (?)
« on: March 02, 2006, 12:01:17 am »
I just noticed the following on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marble_Madness :

"Marble Man ROM dumps (joystick version) and a driver for the MAME emulator exist, but are not publicly available at this time due to restrictions that were placed on the purchase of the machines from which the dumps were made."

That's the last major thing I'm really hoping for in Mame.  I'm really happy that it has been dumped (although I sure wish it was the trackball version).  I don't care that I won't get to play it anytime soon.  I'm just happy that this way, it won't disappear off the face of the earth.

I was wondering if anybody knows any more details about it, like the details of the restrictions that were put on the dumps?  I'd also love to know how anybody managed to convince the owner(s) to have 'em dumped.

I think the guy had them dumped himself to preserve them in case anything happened to the PCB.  It is his personal backup, and as SirP said he doesn't want them released.  There have been a lot of topics on this before at the Mame and MameWorld boards if you want more detailed info...
